There is a difference between a car wash and car detailing, and in Bathurst that difference matters more than most places. Detailing is slow, by hand, with the right chemicals for each surface and the patience to do it properly.
A drive-through wash spins the same dirty brushes across your paint that it spun across the last forty cars, and it sends the Central West dust back into your clear coat as fine scratches. Panorama Car Detailing is a Bathurst detailing workshop handling everything from a regular maintenance detail on the family wagon to full interior restorations and multi-stage paint correction. Whatever condition it arrives in, it leaves better than it has looked in years.
Every general detailing job we do covers the same core ground, then scales up depending on the package you choose.
Pre-rinse and snow foam to lift the loose grit before anything touches the paint, then a two-bucket hand wash with grit guards. Wheels, barrels and arches are cleaned separately with dedicated tools, because wheel contamination is the fastest way to ruin a wash mitt. We dry with plush microfibre and filtered air so nothing gets dragged across the panels.
Iron fallout remover to dissolve the embedded brake dust and rail dust that makes paint feel gritty, tar removal along the lower panels and sills, then a clay bar over the whole car. This is the step most cheap details skip, and it is the one that makes paint feel like glass instead of sandpaper.
Full vacuum including under the seats and in the seat rails, compressed air through the vents and crevices, a dedicated interior cleaner on plastics and trim, glass cleaned inside and out, and mats pulled and cleaned separately. Leather gets a pH-appropriate cleaner and conditioner rather than whatever generic spray was on special.
Tyre dressing, exterior trim restoration, door jambs and shuts wiped out, and a protective layer appropriate to the package.
A maintenance-level clean for cars that are already in reasonable shape and get looked after regularly. Hand wash, wheels, dry, interior vacuum and wipe down, glass and tyre dressing. Around two hours. The right call every four to six weeks if you want to stay on top of it.
Our most popular package and the one most people mean when they say general detailing. Everything in the Express, plus full paint decontamination, clay bar, a machine-applied polish or sealant, interior deep clean with steam and extraction where needed, leather treatment, and engine bay cleaning.
The full restoration treatment. Everything in the Full Detail, plus multi-stage machine paint correction to cut out swirl marks, holograms and light scratches, headlight restoration if needed, and a long-term protective coating.
The Central West is hard on vehicles. Unsealed roads around the district push fine dust into every door seal and air vent. Summer brings bug splatter on the highway runs and UV that bakes contamination into the clear coat. Winter brings frost, mud and road grime. And if you have been anywhere near the mountain on a race weekend, you already know what a week of dust and foot traffic does to an interior.
That is why we tell Bathurst customers to think in terms of a maintenance rhythm rather than a one-off clean. A proper detail two or three times a year, with lighter maintenance washes in between, keeps the paint ahead of the damage rather than playing catch-up with it.
Most swirl marks in paint come from washing, not from driving. They are thousands of fine scratches in the clear coat that scatter light and make the colour look flat and grey, particularly on black and dark blue cars. A cheap “cut and polish” often just fills them with glaze so they reappear a few washes later.
Machine paint correction removes a microscopically thin layer of clear coat so the scratches are levelled out rather than hidden. Done properly, with the right pad and compound combination and a paint depth gauge to make sure there is clear coat to spare, it is permanent. Done badly, it burns through the clear and costs you a respray. We do it properly, which is why it is priced as its own stage rather than thrown in as a freebie.
We work from a proper workshop in Bathurst rather than a driveway, which means controlled lighting for paint work, filtered water, and the car stays dry and dust-free while it cures. Tell us what the car is, what shape it is in and what you want out of it, and we will tell you honestly which package it needs. Often that is a cheaper one than you expected.
Serving Bathurst, Kelso, Eglinton, Raglan, Perthville and the wider Central West.
It depends on the size of the vehicle, its current condition and the package. An Express Detail on a small hatch is at the low end, a Premium Detail with multi-stage paint correction on a large four-wheel drive is at the top. We quote from photos so there are no surprises on the day.
An Express Detail takes around two hours. A Full Detail usually takes most of a day. A Premium Detail with paint correction often needs the vehicle overnight, because correction cannot be rushed without risking the paint.
We work from a fixed Bathurst workshop. Paint correction, coatings and extraction work all need controlled lighting, power and water, which a driveway cannot provide reliably. For maintenance-level work we can discuss options.
For most Bathurst drivers, a full detail two or three times a year with regular maintenance washes in between keeps a car in genuinely good condition. Cars on dirt roads or parked outside full-time benefit from more.
Light swirl marks and shallow scratches in the clear coat can be removed with machine correction. Anything you can catch a fingernail in has usually gone through the clear coat and needs paint, not polish. We will tell you which yours are before we start.
Yes, as an add-on. We degrease and dress the bay while protecting the electrical components, alternator and intake.
Make the finish last. The full Kovalent ceramic coating range, applied after paint correction.
